Barrie’s Snow Valley

Barrie’s Snow Valley

Ever heard of or been to Barrie, Ontario’s Snow Valley?  It really is a great and absolutely fabulous to spend the day, weekend or just the afternoon.  Located just an hour and 15 minutes above Toronto, Ontario, you are in the hearth of the snow-belt of the province.  The key here is FAMILY fun.  Snow Valley specialises in winter activities such as:  tubing, snow-boarding, skiing, snow-shoeing, and the day camps are legendary.

For years we’ve spent a day or two up at Snow Valley with the whole family.  It’s not so steep that it would intimidate you or your kids.  And at the same time, if you are looking to take that literal leap and try snowboarding, it really is a great place to start.  The resort has all kinds of packages for first timers, to the more advanced expert and again the key here is fun, fun, fun!

Consider setting up a cottage rentals  within a 30-60 minute travel time from Snow Valley.  Take the kids up for a long weekend in the colder months and leave on a Thursday afternoon.  Get to your cottage rental early and enjoy the relaxing peace of nature and the woods.  Have a lovely meal with your family.  Then wake up bright and early, have yourselves a lovely cottage breakfast, and then pack up for a short jaunt to Snow Valley.  Get the family a day package and spend the tubing up and down the hill.  Let me tell you it is an absolute blast.  You can wrap your arms and legs around each other and go down the hill at the same time!  You can watch kids go down the hills on their own.  What a hoot!

Just remember to bring, Vaseline for the cheeks, snow goggles for eye wear, good ski masks to protect against the cold, warm outer wear, including good warm boots, and lots, and lots of hot cocoa.  But if you forget the cocoa, don’t worry, the cafeterias on site have lots of options for concessions to choose from.

Some of my best memories with my family were made at Snow Valley.  Having fun without all the risk.
