Condos, Cottages, Cabins and Vacation Homes for Rent in Texas
Consider that Texas could legally be five states, and you get some idea at how really large the second largest and second most populated state is. Texans are nothing if not independent and proud of their state. Considering that they were an independent nation for a decade before joining the United States, however, it is perfectly understandable. The natives here are generous, welcoming and typically larger-than-life. Texas is actually larger than the nation of France, so travel here needs to be by car. Some places that one should not miss if the visit here include Austin for the live music, Corpus Christi for the Texas State Aquarium, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Lubbock (Buddy Holly was born here), San Antonio (the Alamo), Big Bend National Park, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Palo Duro Canyon and South Padre Island.
You will find that Texans are from all different ethnic backgrounds, including Hispanic, German, Norwegian, Polish, Czech, French, and both African and Asian Americans. Keep in mind that Texas is huge. There are tons of things to do and see here. There's state parks in addition to the national ones, restored forts, battlefield markers, prehistoric settlements, amusement parks (two six flags, Hurricane Harbor, Sea World, Wonderland Park, Joyland Amusement, and Schlitterbahn to name a few), historical sites (including the location where John F. Kennedy was shot, Dealey Plaza), working ranches including one that is larger than the entire state of Rhode Island, and much more. While here check out the Texan style Barbecue, Chili and Tex-Mex fare, but be aware that the summers can be very hot so take plenty of water with you.
