We currently have three guest cabins, each hand-crafted log with an open design (only the bathroom is enclosed), and visually isolated in order to enhance guest privacy. Each cabin is equipped with a queen-sized bed, sofa (1 cabin) or double fold-down futon (2 cabins), a full bath (tub/shower unit with hot and cold running water and indoor plumbing!), a wood burning stove and double propane burner for complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate. We provide all bedding and linen, and kindling and firewood is stacked on your deck for use in the stove. Cabin lighting is provided by a solar panel with a battery pack in the basement; otherwise, there is no regular 120V power in the cabins. I also stock the cabins with scented candles and bubble bath.

As we are in a relatively remote location and we don't want to encourage Mother Nature's less-lovable creatures to investigate a cabin, there is no cooking allowed in my cabins. Instead, I serve hearty, wholesome, family-style meals out of a central cook house - complete with fresh baking done in my wood cook stove. The cook house, a simple frame structure, is the "rustic" part of the operation. I'm always happy to modify my menu to suit individual guest preferences.

The 'Escape cabins are situated in a secluded, subalpine valley amongst the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies, adjacent to Jasper National Park (east backcountry boundary) and vast, undeveloped Willmore Wilderness. The cabins sit at an elevation of 5,000 ft with the Moosehorn Mountains to our south, Hoff Range to our east and Willmore mountains to our north at well over 7,000 ft. The nearest point of civilization is Hinton, Alberta (70 km, or about an hour's drive, to our southeast). Jasper townsite, while only 30 km away as the crow flies, is a 2-hr drive (you have to drive around the mountains). Edmonton International is the closest airport (370 km, or about a 4-hr drive), while Calgary International (590 km, or about a 6-hr drive straight through) offers a more scenic route through the Icefield Parkway.

Season-dependent, we offer guided, interpretive day hikes, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, whitewater rafting, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Multi-day horseback pack trips and backpacking trips into Willmore Wilderness are also available.

Rocky Mountain Escape is "off-the-beaten-path" in a wilderness area. We cater to folks looking for a quiet, scenic, non-touristy spot from which to enjoy our mountain environment. Our maximum guest capacity is 10 folks, so guests have the opportunity for personalized attention. We have two lovable, friendly "bear" dogs on-site whose job is to keep unwanted wildlife away from the cabins.

Rates are quoted as per adult per night, based on double occupancy, and include your private cabin accommodation, all meals, guided day hike/ski/snoeshoe, use of the 'Escape's canoe, x-country skis and snowshoes and transportation to and from trailheads.
