This beautiful cottage is tucked away amongst woodland in a quiet
bay on Steenburg Lake. This 4-bedroom cottage has lots of space
for a large family to enjoy time together yet still find some
private areas to sit with a book and a glass of wine.
From the moment you pull into the driveway you'll know you chose
well. This is a great property for sharing time with family and
friends and has been furnished and equipped for comfort and
relaxation.
The large entrance hall has space for shoes, jackets and snow
gear if you are visiting in the winter, then there are steps up
to the entrance which opens into the large eat- in kitchen. This
is fully equipped with all you need to cook up a storm and of
course has a dishwasher to make the clearing up so much easier.
With a breakfast bar and stools along with the large dining
table, there's plenty of room for family meals.
A large living room overlooks the gardens and lake and there is a
door to the delightful screened sun room for evenings spent
sunset watching. A full bathroom is on this level with a bathtub
and shower over. Stairs lead to the upper floor where you'll find
3 large carpeted bedrooms and a large bathroom with a whirpool
tub. All the beds and mattresses are brand new for the 2010
summer season.
The lower floor is home to a large family room with TV and games
- a great spot for the teens to congregate and have space for
themselves. There's also another bedroom and laundry area.
We loved the gardens at this property with lawns, woodland and
shrubs giving shady spots, and quiet areas for relaxation, and of
course a firepit. The waterfront is fairly shallow - about 2 feet
at the shoreline and it gradually deepens to around 4ft at the
end of the dock. It is not suitable for diving, but the swimming
is great. It's sandy underfoot but we always recommend that our
guests use water shoes. The westerly exposure assures you of
great sunsets so charge up that glass of wine and head to the
dock to take in the view!
A rowboat & 2 kayaks are included in the rental, or you can
bring your own boat and tie it up at the dock.
The nearest town - Bancroft - has gift stores, restaurants,
supermarkets and a delightful riverfront as well as being known
as the 'Mineral Capital of Canada' hosting an annual 'Gemboree'
each August.
