Lac Gauvreau is a delightfully tranquil lake only 40 minutes from
downtown Ottawa, making it an ideal location for a short break as
well as a longer vacation destination. A short drive from
Wakefield and with easy access to nearby Gatineau Park, there’s
plenty to do in the local area too.
The cottage sits a little above Lac Gauvreau with an easterly
outlook across the lake. The lawned gardens are large enough for
children to have plenty of space to play and there is a large
play/climbing set as well as a seating area for enjoying the late
afternoon sun. A short slope leads to a grassy area at the lake
which has a sandy, shallow entry with deeper water off the end of
the dock. A row boat and canoe are included in the rental for
exploring the lake or heading out for a spot of fishing.
A door off the deck leads into an open plan living, dining and
kitchen area. This is a fresh and light-filled space that makes
it as pleasant to sit indoors on poor weather days, as it is to
lounge on the deck. A wood stove delivers a nice amount of heat
on those cooler evenings in the fall giving a cosy feel to the
room. The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything the cottage
chef needs to prepare family meals and is adjacent to a good
sized dining table that will double up as a card and games table
in the evenings.
Upstairs are three bedrooms – the master has a queen, the
second bedroom has twin bunks and the third has a sofa bed. The
bathroom has a tub with shower over as well as a washer/dryer.
The owners have spent a lot of time updating this cottage and the
result is an appealing, attractive property that would suit
anyone looking for a private location on a great lake, yet still
be close to the city.
