Michigan Cottages, Condos and Vacation Home Rentals
One might think of only cars and the city of Detroit when they bring the upper Midwest state of Michigan to mind, but in reality, there is a lot more to this wonderful location than just one city. Michigan's boarders include more shoreline than any state but Alaska, which may surprise you, until you consider that not only are there parts of many of the Great Lakes touching on the state but over twelve thousand smaller lakes too. The state has nearly forty deep-water ports and more lighthouses than any other state. While cars and manufacturing are big business here, much of the state outside Detroit is packed with important landmarks, protected by state and national parks and forests, rich in cherries, blueberries, apples and other crops, and a great place to shop for antiques. No matter what type of vacation you are looking for, Michigan likely has it. Water sports in the summer include boating, sailing, surfboarding, fishing, or just lounging on the beach, but summer fun does not end there, because there are dozens of antique shows and fairs to attend in the summer. Fall brings hunting, do it yourself harvesting opportunities for many crops and tours through the colorful forests in the north. Winter brings snow, and all the sports associated with it, from sledding and snowshoeing to ice fishing. If you prefer urban ventures, you might consider plays in Detroit or sightseeing around many of the many communities. Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Holland, and historic lumber town of Saginaw all have unique appeal. For those wanting a bit of both, visiting Isle Royal National Park or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore might be the ideal thing.
